I cannot wait for the MLS season to start. As a DC United fan, I get to enjoy some meaningful games before the actual season starts. DC along with Houston have earned a spot in the Concacaf Champions Cup for the second straight year. I would really like to see DC perform better than they did in 2007. I think last year Troy Perkins (former Keeper) hurt us by letting a goal literally slip through his hands on a rainy day.

This year should be much better because we have a full season of two starts in Luciano Emilio and Fred. I think that because those two have had a season of playing with each other that we are a serious contender to win it all in '08. Once again this will also provide a springboard into the MLS season. I remember last year DC starting off 0-3-0. I attributed it to the fact that they felt a "let down" in the CCC, which carried over to the regular season.

Well, DC's first CCC game is on March 12, at 7 pm. It will be played in Kingston, Jamaica against Harbour View FC. The second game will be played in RFK on the 18th of March. I would love to see DC win it, but if they don't I will be pulling for Houston, because it will help promote MLS as a growing league. And the winner of CCC gets to compete in the Club World Cup in Japan. That is a subject for another blog, because I feel that with proper marketing and a better location that could be a more serious tournament.

Its good to see a few of us can also be soccer fans. The last game i went to was when the Galaxy and Beckham were here. That was absolutley insane. Anyway do yu know how DC is playing in that second game of the CCC? I may look into going to that game. Whos going to be the keeper next year? I thought Troy was huge down the stretch.

Yea, I was at the Beckham game too, and it was a mad house. Especially when Emilio got that goal.

Anyway, the second game you asked about is against Harbour View FC. Its the second leg of that matchup. Its based on aggregate goals (total goals of each game). I don't know anything about HVFC, but it should at least provide DC with a head start on the regular season.

Our keeper is Zach Wells. He was a back up to Pat Onstad in Houston. I got to see him play in last years CCC when Onstad injured himself. Wells filled in nicely, including a blocked penalty kick. We also picked up a Colombian keeper as a back up, so Wells will have to keep his game up if he expects to remain the starter.

Thats one thing that I really love about soccer, is that the best players play, not the highest paid players. Its not like our sports where the stars play no matter what. In soccer you get benched if you aren't playing, and I think it keeps players honest. And it keeps the best product on the field at all times.

Very true, even in the premier leauge. Players get paid tons over there yet you still for the most part only see the best each team has to offer no matter what their getting paid. A good example would have to be MAN U. They are loaded up front and seem to play the hot hand most of the time. Hopefully Wells turns out to be a quality pick-up. I'm def looking forward to seeing a few games this year. Also when Beckham got in wasn't it apparent to you just how much better he really was than everyone out their, his passes where amazing. The funny part is the one he sent to Donavan was so good that Donavan almost lost his legs in that collison.
